André Carretoni

André Bustamante Carretoni was born in Rio de Janeiro on the 11th of January, 1971. He graduated in Computer Science and in 1998 he left for Europe in search of the unknown.

After living in Lisbon for 6 years, he took the Portuguese Route to Santiago de Compostela and enrolled on a painting course in Florence, Italy, where he wrote his first romance novel “Piedade Moderna” and met his wife, Jannick Folly.

He wrote “Piedade Recíproca” whilst travelling in the South of Italy.

He spent two years in Lausanne, Switzerland, honing his writing skills and studying foreign languages as well as setting up his personal webpage on the internet.

He then wrote “O Fim da Piedade” and “Mais Alto que o Fundo do Mar”.

In 2005 “Piedade Moderna” was published in Brazil; it wasn’t distributed and didn’t get a wide circulation, but the experience was still a dream come true and marked André’s first contact with the world of publishing.

André returned to Lisbon and began writing "TELMA, A Tragédia do Desencontro" and "O Conto dos Contos e Outros Contos" and began working, together with Ateliê Produção Editorial, on the production of “Mais Alto que o Fundo do Mar”, which was launched in 2008 in Portugal.

In concern for the environment, he participated in a wind turbine project in the South of France on the outskirts of Salles-Curan.

André currently lives in Paris. Alongside an IT position, he has finished revising “Piedade”, which unites the titles "Piedade Moderna", "Piedade Recíproca" and "O Fim da Piedade".

He has written chronicles for the French website Bonjour Brasil and has begun participating in the Brazilian site Tertúlia. He attended the Creative Writing Laboratory at the Instituto Camões, Portugal.

Aware of the long road ahead of him, with ideas for other books, he continues in the search for his true self.
